Best Revolver Brand - Smith and Wesson Revolvers

Author: Best Handgun

Ever since handguns were invented, revolvers have been one of the most popular style guns available. The legendary revolver or six-shooter was made famous in the Wild Wild West, and greatly shaped how the United States grew. Revolvers have a cylinder that has 5-6 bullet chambers where bullets are inserted. That cylinder rotates as each bullet is fired, loading the next round into the barrel shooting position. They are the most reliable and most accurate handgun design because if their inherit simplicity. Many manufacturers try to make revolvers, but who can claim the title as the Best Revolver Brand?

That answer will be determined by looking at the history, current production, and reputation of some of the top brands. With those sections in mind, we have chosen Smith and Wesson Revolvers as the Best Revolver Brand manufactured today.

History

Smith and Wesson (S&W) is the largest US gun manufacturer today, and was formed all the way back in 1852. In the 150+ years that S&W has been manufacturing guns, they have produced the favorite firearms of many police and military personnel, as well as regular civilians. The S&W Model 29 and the .44 magnum round were made into American icons by Clint Eastwood in the Dirty Harry movie series, and along with a variety of other western movies, has made the Smith and Wesson revolvers icons in our time.

Reputation

The Smith and Wesson brand has an excellent reputation as a gun manufacturer, and has worked very hard to achieve that through the years. S&W Revolvers have been loved their entire life, from the day they were introduced to the modern day. Almost every police officer who carries a revolver, especially concealed, has a Smith and Wesson, and has come to depend on it to defend themselves. These revolvers are truly some of the best out there.

Current Production

Smith and Wesson continues to be the best revolver brand out there, as well as the biggest U.S. gun manufacturer. They are a publically traded company with revenue exceeding 0 million per year. Their revolvers are only part of their gun line, as they also manufacturer semi auto handguns, tactical rifles, and hunting rifles.

Bottom Line

The bottom line is that a Smith and Wesson revolver is probably the best revolver on the market today, and Smith and Wesson continues to be the Best Revolver Brand. Some of their competitors such as Ruger and Taurus are making very good revolvers, but have yet to produce the same quality of guns and amazing track record of performance that S&W has. Smith and Wesson will in no doubt continue to direct American gun making, and produce fantastic quality revolvers that will be used all over the world.

  2. QUESTION:
What does it mean when it says "first production run" on a knife?
Just bought a Smith and Wesson pocket knife and it says "first production run" on it. What does that mean?

    Thanks:)

    • ANSWER:
After a new knife is designed and built, the first set of knives that come off the machines are called "First Production Run" knives. This could be as few as ten or twenty or it could be several thousand or more. It depends on the company and what they expect the demand for that particular knife to be, and how rare they want to make it. For instance, if Pro-Tech just made a new knife and they want it to be fairly rare, they will produce a hundred or two and mark them first production run. After they are all sold out, they will reset up the machines and then make more of the knives, only without the "first production run" on it. I am including a link of a good online knifeshop. They have some great knives--and from time to time, they get "first production run" knives in. Check them out and good luck with your S&W.

  3. QUESTION:
i cant close my pocket knife!!!?
I have a Smith & Wesson extreme ops pocket knife and i can not close it. :(
please help. if you can be very detailed im a little slow for these kinds of things.

    • ANSWER:
It's a liner lock knife, so let me try and explain how to do it.

Hold the knife in your hand, by the handle, upside down, edge up.
Look into the slot where the blade folds into. Look specifically for a piece of metal that is leaning into that slot. This piece of metal should be touching the base of the blade close to where it pivots. This is the liner lock, and it needs to be pushed back out of the way so you can fold the blade back into the handle. There is usually a little cut-out on the side of the handle next to the slot to make it easier to push the liner lock out of the way. DO NOT BE TRYING TO CLOSE THE BLADE WHILE YOU ARE CLEARING THE LINER LOCK! YOU WILL CUT YOURSELF! You may have to push quite firmly on the liner lock to get it to move. Once it's out of the way, hold it there and close the blade carefully.

Each time you open the knife, the liner lock will spring into the slot in the handle, and prevent the blade from snapping closed on your fingers when you are cutting something.

      Best of luck to you.

  4. QUESTION:
Can you carry a double folding knife in New York?
I have a Smith and Wesson double folding pocket knife, just like the one in this link:
    http://www.swordsswords.com/smith-and-wesson-double-lockback-folding-knife.aspx

Its completely manual, not an automatic or switchblade or anything like that. Both blades are 3 inches long.
Can I carry this around if I live in New York and if I leave it exposed?

    • ANSWER:
I would think that unless you were in a protected area (Courthouse or Airport or thew like) there would be no problem. It seems like a nasty looking pocket knife. I wouldn't advertise it but I wouldn't hide it either if asked.
