High Quality Pocket Knives

Choosing a High Quality Chef's Knife
Author: Christopher Mcbride
This material guarantees a stronger knife and a blade that will stay sharp longer than a knife made of any other material. Balance is very important in any knife. This is the kitchen knife that you will probably use most often, since it can be used for multiple tasks including chopping, slicing, and dicing. Investing in high-end knives means that you are sure to be satisfied with quality. Even if you intend to purchase your knife online in order to get a better price, make a trip to a cookware store so you can test them out in person first. This means that the blade extends all the way through the handle, preventing it from separating from the handle and adding to the strength.
From the casual cook to the professional chef, everyone is looking for something different. It should fit well in your hand and not tilt either front to back or side to side. A few popular, high quality brands are WA¼sthof, Henckels, and Global. Some chefs may prefer a heavier knife, believing that it will easily handle heavy duty tasks. A chef's knife is not something that can be chosen at random. The most popular size is eight inches. Just because you like other knives from one manufacturer, it doesn't mean that you will love their entire range. When you hold it properly, the knife should not feel heavier on either end. You will want to consider the size of the knife as well. An unbalanced knife will cause you to exert more force, adding to fatigue or increasing the risk of injury. So how do you find the perfect go-to knife?
You can get a feel for the comfort and balance of each brand and style of knife. Just make sure to test them out in person before you buy online to ensure that you'll be comfortable with the choice that will last for years.
You may prefer to buy your chef's knife from a different brand than your normally preferred one.
The knives that are good as these knives are the Buckmaster Knife and Carbon KnivesFirst, choose one made of high-carbon stainless steel. The level of importance when it comes to certain details changes from person to person. Look for a knife that has a full tang.

QUESTION:

I am an avid knife collector. My most recent knife I carried around was a Smith and Wesson SWMP4LS and the spring came lose and it broke. I now want a nice high quality knife from good, well-known brands like cold steel and spyderco. I do not want any thing automatic or spring assisted. Any suggestions?-

QUESTION:
Whats the best folding pockets knife, and a cheap place on the internet to get one?
I'm looking for a folding knife that wont dull easily for less than and a website that sells high quality knifes for cheap. If anyone knows let me know.-
ANSWER:
My preference is Cold Steel but I don't know if they make a folder for under . Smith and Wesson makes a great knife for under . Just be sure that you stick with carbon steel blades and, whatever you do, DO NOT get a serrated blade. They are a pain in the butt to work with and are extremely difficult to sharpen properly. They may be OK for cutting rope or such things but as a hunting knife, I can tell you that they really suck. I know, I have one and it spends all its days in a box at home. I will never take it into the woods and I don't have the heart to give it to a friend. Before ordering any knife, be sure to actually handle one and look it over carefully to be sure that it is the size that you want; too large and it will become uncomfortable to carry in your pocket, too small and it won't do the job. Does the handle fit your hand comfortably? Does the blade open and close smoothly? Is the handle material something that can stand up to actual use in the woods or is it just for show? Will the handle get slippery when you get blood on it and become a dangerous thing ready to slice open your hand? You can do this at the better sporting goods stores, knife shops, or knife and gun shows. As for the best place to find a good knife on line, I don't know which place is best. Just search around and see who has the best prices.

QUESTION:
What is a good inexpensive pocket knife for every day carry?
I have large hands, so I am looking for a good solid folder that has a grip of at least 4 inches. But I also live in Michigan, so I need a blade length of under 3 inches. I also don't want to break the bank. I think 30 dollars is about the highest I'd like to go. Does anyone know of any good quality knives that meet these specifications?-

QUESTION:
Hunting/Pocket Knife- Gift for future husband?
Ok guys, I've been looking at hunting knives for literally YEARS! I want to buy my fiance a really nice knife for a wedding present (we're getting married in two months). He "lost" his favorite knife about 3 years ago (he had to leave it behind when we were going through a metal detector and --of course-- it was gone when we returned). I've seriously never seen him so devistated over a "material possession" and still to this day doesn't like to talk about it. Yeah-- he got that upset about his knife!!!
Anyway, meanwhile he carries around some cheap knife, but I really wanted to get him something NICE, that he could carry every day, and actually use-- I don't want something that will sit in the tin collecter's box forever (what good is that?).
Unfortunately, I never really noticed what kind of knife he used to have!
I've tried to hint about it, with no luck. So I decided to just look for a good quality knife, and not worry about what he used to have!I've looked at Case knives (I think he likes this brand- I've heard him comment on a friend's Case before). I also looked at Buck knives- I really think he'd LOVE this one-

...just not sure about the price on that one (so expensive!). Is the knife really, honestly that high of quality? Would he be able to use it DAILY?!
I also thought he might like something like this:
http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_63800____SearchResults
...All I know is that he's not the kind of guy who likes "utility" style knives. He'd rather have one with a handle made of whitetail antlers versus a steel/black/blued handle... You know what I mean?!
Also, he definitely USES his knives. He actually works in a forest- forestry and wildlife are his career, not just a hobby. So I think he puts a lot of value on a "good, quality knife".
Does anyone know any really good options for him? ...And remember, this is a wedding gift, so I just don't think a knife from the tractor supply store will really do.
Any imput would be really, really helpful! Thanks!!!!!-
ANSWER:
It would help if we knew your price range. As a wedding gift, are you willing to outlay ? what about 0?are there any length restrictions in your area?

medium length voyager clip is an excellent choice here, and some places require knive blades to be 3 inches or lessI've been eyeing up this one but it has a 4 inch blade which is a no-no for some places

QUESTION:
Looking for a pocket knife of some sort...?
..to keep in my room in case 'something' happens. Preferably not a folding one that flips out, had a bad experience with them. Want a high quality, durable one, either spring loaded, or one similar to a stanley knife (where you have to push the blade out)I don't want to spend too much, no experience with blades, but I'd like to keep it under
Doh...pepper spray...forgot all about that. Think I'll go with a spray and a Swiss Army knife, would be useful seeing as I'm beginning to kind of get in a survivalist mindset
Forget the pepper spray, it's illegal where I live-
ANSWER:
As for knives, I would go with a 'fixed' blade. I like the Kay-bar, it is around .. but a very rugged and versatile blade. I would think a gun is not an option, so I won't go there.
When I first started traveling for construction work years ago I kept an interesting weapon next to my bed in the motels. I have an old WW2 trenching tool (little shovel) I kept the shovel blade folded out and I sharpened it just a little. If an intruder were to have invaded me I believe this weapon would have destroyed any part of the human body I would have 'struck' with it.
It would have given me more distance between myself and my foe than a knife and is quite intimidating.

QUESTION:
Gerber AR 3.00stainless half serrated knife question?
What kind of 440stainless is this (A/B/C)? Is it a good EDC knife? Do the pocket clips break? What EDC knife would you choose under 60$?I bought one at di^cks sporting goods yesterday for 40$. I thought it was a tad pricey. I opened the box and found it weighs under 2 ounces and has a very high quality about it (no machine marks, very sharp, light weight, smooth and fast, no play between the blade). It was between this and a Benchmade Flash I for 60$.
