QUESTION:
Where to get a Swiss Army Knife?
I'm looking for a good swiss army knife and i am wondering what nationwide stores i can look at for a good swiss army knife at a reasonable price. so if you could give me a list or at least the names of a few stores that you know have these knives for reasonable prices, i would greatly appreciate it. thanks!-
ANSWER:
You can get them pretty much anywhere. They even sell them at Wal-mart. If you get one, make sure it is either a Victorinox or a Wenger. Anything else is just knock-offs. Victorinox is the more popular brand and the one most widely associated with Swiss Army knives.

QUESTION:
What Swiss army knife should I get?
I want to get a Swiss army knife. I don't want it to be more than 4 layers, more than £20 and I would like it if it had scissors and a wood saw. Any suggestions, please put the price and a link on where to find it. Thanks-
ANSWER:
I would recommend the Victorinox Huntsman instead of the Champ. The Champ is a good knife with lots of tools, but considering the preferences you've written, I don't think you'd like how wide the Champ is compared to other models, or how weighty it feels in one's pocket. The Champ is also a bit more expensive due to amount of tools it has on it; that doesn't make it bad, but since you're on a limit, I think a different knife would better suit you.The Huntsman, on the other hand, is lighter than the Champ since it only has 14 essential tools instead of the 33 features the Champ has. The Huntsman comes with the scissors and wood saw you asked for, as well as the regular blade, small blade, awl, and can opener most larger Swiss Army Knife models have. And best of all, you can get the Huntsman for a range between £13-16 from amazon.co.uk. Here's the link below. Hope this helped!

QUESTION:
Which Swiss Army knife should I get?
http://www.swissarmy.com/MultiTools/Pages/default.aspx?category=multitools&So, I want to buy a Swiss Army knife; and I'm looking for something more survival orientated. You know like if I got lost in a forest, a jungle, or even in the middle of the desert; I'd like to have something compact with me at all times for those "just in case" things. So I decided why not get one of those Swiss Army knives?
The problem is, there's a whole bunch of them; and I don't know which one I should get... I was wondering if anyone can help me here? Price isn't a problem, but don't ask me to buy that huge thing that costs a thousand...
I'd also like it if it had a lot of neat features for everyday life too, but still maintaining more focus on survival.
Right now, I'm thinking of the Swiss Champ.

ANSWER:
If you want a multi-tool, buy a multi-tool, and not a Victorinox. Either one is a good choice. Victorinox knives, although very useful in a survival situation, are more oriented to everyday use and carry. They're semi-fragile tools meant for light use, not survival. In a survival situation, you want a large, very durable, very sharp, reliable blade. Nothing beats a fixed blade knife made of high quality stainless or carbon (Which I prefer) steel in such a situation.Back to your question:
The SwissChamp xlt is a very nice tool. But it is built like a multi-tool. A multi-tool a 3.5" long Victorinox is not, and can not feasibly be. They are multi-tools, but not in the sense that they can be pulled out and replace the single tool needed without issue. They bend too easily and the tools are too small. If you're after something like the xlt, pick up a Gerber multi-tool -- something made specifically to have all the nifty little things on it used. Rugged, durable, cheaper, and not built to the size of a 3.5" pocket knife. You'll never use a pharmaceutical spatula, and anything that needs to be bent will require pliers you can use with more than two fingers. Wire scrapers: Because you really want to rub a hunk of ungrounded metal against electric wires.I personally own a Spartan, and although a light built into it would be nice, a small key chain flashlight does the same thing. I have never used the reamer (And for its intended purpose, I don't even know how you could.) and the only time I've ever used the can opener was once on a school trip, and several times to act as an Allen key when I didn't have one handy. I've used everything else, and do often, but more, I doubt I ever will. A saw would be nice, but if I really needed a saw for something, I wouldn't be using a 3.2" or so one on a pocket knife.

QUESTION:
I need immediate help for repairing/maintaining a Swiss Army Knife?
To begin, I would like to thank you for your help. Today a couple buddies and me went down the shore to go fishing. I always bring along my great uncles Swiss Army knife, I guess for protection for also for general usage. Well today, my friend forgot to bring a knife to cut of some bait fish. I decided to let my friends use my knife to cut of the fishes. It is my fault by making the decision to allow my friends to use this priceless piece of heirloom. After every usage (cutting up the fish) my friends would just rinse the knife out in the ocean. After coming home from the trip, I wanted to clean out the knife incase there was anything left, and noticed that the cover became scratched and that the levers/tools on the knife became bumpy. I assume that sand has gotten in...I cleaned it out as best as I could, but now I am worried that the salt water may be potentially damaging to the knife. I can see marks where the salt has dried up on the knife. What should/can I do? Is there any place that I can take this sort of knife and have it repaired or cleaned out? Please, any help is greatly appreciated. I am in such deep regret for allowing the knife to be used in this sort of environment... and now I pay the price.-
ANSWER:
Use Flitz to remove the spots.
Miltec or similar oil to lube the joints. Make sure to dry the whole thing and it's gonna be alright, that thing is still stainless steel.

QUESTION:
Swiss army knife issue?
I see a well-known clothing chain has been selling Swiss branded jackets with a free swiss penknife included. This has apparently caused an outrage and all of them have now been withdrawn from sale. Am I just being thick here by asking exactly what they've done wrong? Since when have penknives been illegal in the UK? I know the sale of knives is age-restricted but the jackets were priced at £59 so they're hardly going to be aimed at children. Maybe it's just a publicity stunt to get them in the headlines. What are your views on this?
The ghost: Yes it is but Ididn't want to risk a violation by saying the name!-
ANSWER:
I think at this rate there will soon be people who want to register plastic letter openers. And if you can't tear the wrapper off your candy bar with your teeth your only hope will be threatening a cop and holding in in the path of his taser.

QUESTION:
Where can I buy Swiss Army Knifes in Singapore?
And what is the price of the high-end ones? I would prefer the best.-
ANSWER:
SAK are novelty items. The price goes up depending on the number of appendages you want included such as toothpick, wine bottle opener, bag carrier etc. They are meant for gentle use and are not allowed on board planes. Suggest you go to Beach Road Food Centre where Army items are sold. Take a look at cheaper and equally effective alternatives. For high quality knives, surf for Spyderco who sells large range high quality foldable knives with the latest steel technology.I am using a Spyderco military for field use right now. Spyderco also have sharpening tools to give your knives the neccessary razor edge.
